Build an app and win $10,001!
The Public Library of Science (PLoS) and Mendeley, the popular reference manager and academic social network, have teamed up to create a Binary Battle contest offering $10,001 to the creator of the best application using their data.
They have launched the contest because they want to “make science more open,” and to support a “world in which science is mashed up… with anything.” To enter you must build an app that uses PLoS and/or Mendeley's API (Application Programming Interface). Submit your app by September 30th, 2011 for your chance to win $10,001 plus $1,000 Amazon Web service credits.
Judges of the “Binary Battle” include science, media and technology virtuosos such as Tim O’Reilly of O’Reilly Media, John Wilbanks of Creative Commons, and Werner Vogels, CTO of amazon.com.
