DOCUMENT DELIVERY
FAQ Request Form

All faculty, staff and students of Polytechnic Institute of NYU may use document delivery/interlibrary loan service to obtain materials not available at Dibner Library.

How do I request materials not available at Dibner Library?

Fill out the online request form completely.

Also, take advantage of WorldCat’s interlibrary loan feature.  WorldCat Advanced lets you search many libraries at once and easily request items that are not available at Dibner Library - just look for the “Request this Item Now” link. You must log in with your student ID to use this service.

What is the turnaround time?

Requests for journal articles may take two weeks to fill whereas books may take three weeks.  In many cases, the materials arrive much sooner.

Is there a fee for this service?

No, it is free of charge.

How do I retrieve the materials?

You will be notified by e-mail when the item has been received.

  • If the item is available electronically, it will be emailed to you.
  • Students must pick up print materials at the service desk.
  • Faculty and staff can have articles delivered to their office via interoffice mail.
  • Patrons from campuses in Long Island, Westchester, and Manhattan can have articles faxed or items mailed to them at no extra charge.

For how long can I borrow the materials?

Items are generally loaned for four weeks. Renewals must be requested before the due date and are subject to approval. Photocopies are yours to keep.
